Ugandans Report Web Issues On Eve Of Presidential Election

KAMPALA: Ugandans reported difficulties accessing the web through cellular gadgets and wi-fi connections on Wednesday night, a day earlier than presidential and parliamentary elections.

Web monitor NetBlocks mentioned on Twitter that Uganda was experiencing a nationwide web blackout that got here in at 7 p.m. (1600 GMT).

Ibrahim Bbossa, spokesman for the Uganda Communications Fee, didn’t reply to telephones calls and messages requesting remark.

The web issues come a day after Uganda banned all social media and messaging apps forward of the vote, which the president mentioned was in retaliation for Fb taking down some pro-government accounts.
